With the support of its families, faculty, staff, Board of Directors, sponsors and donors, an army of volunteers and many valued partners, Shallaway is dedicated to continuing its ever-evolving journey of exploring, connecting, encouraging, developing and celebrating cultural expression through the medium of choral music.
Shallaway Youth Choir, now approaching its 25th anniversary, continues to strive for excellence. However, we are more than a choir. We help children explore their leadership potential in a supportive, compassionate and caring environment.
We are delighted to announce that Shallaway will be travelling to Ottawa next week to partake in the celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday! Our Camerata Ensemble will be performing in the Unisong Choral Festival alongside 600 choristers from across Canada and iconic Canadian conductor and composer, Lydia Adams. We are also thrilled to be joined by Ullugiagâtsuk, our Labrador Youth Choir, who will perform “Music of the Land” in Inuktituk!
In addition to our Canada Day performances, Shallaway is proud to be invited to sing the Ode to Newfoundland at the National War Memorial in Ottawa the morning of July 1st, to commemorate the sacrifices made by the Newfoundland Regiment during WWI.
Not only will Camerata be performing for the Canada 150 festivities and Memorial Day ceremony, but we have also been invited to perform as special guest soloists on July 6th with the National Arts Centre Orchestra!
It will be an exciting week filled with great experiences and beautiful music, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @Shallawaynl!
