Audition Information

Audition Requirements

Our audition process is very relaxed, and very short. We want a chance to get to know you a little bit, and will chat with you as well as having you sing. Choose a song that you really like and with which you are very comfortable. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to complete the registration process.

The following information may be helpful to you:

  • All auditionees are seen in pairs, and parents must remain outside the room during the audition.
  • Applicants for Children's Chorus must be seven years old and applicants for Youth Choir must be twelve years old by December 31st, 2008.
  • An in-depth information letter will be provided for parents at the audition.

For children under 10, each applicant will be asked to:

  • Sing a song of their own choice (can be O Canada, Happy Birthday, etc.) without accompaniment.
  • Echo sing and clap a simple melody and rhythm that will be sung or clapped to them in the audition
  • Sing as high and as low as they can, to determine the range of their voice.

For children 10 and over, each applicant will be asked the above, and will be asked to sight sing a musical pattern appropriate to their age level.
