Jubilate is the intermediate ensemble of Shallaway, and its members are principally drawn from the Junior High age group. In this group, choristers are coming into their own musically, developing confidence with more demanding repertoire and stretching their musical skills and knowledge beyond the scope of Children’s Chorus. It is a vibrant age group, full of ideas and energy. While they have lots of fun, it is the beginning of their consciousness as serious music-makers. They take pride in this new identity and work hard to maintain and grow it. With guidance from the faculty, in addition to their general choral development, Jubilate members are expected to continue improving their ear and voice training and sight reading. Also emphasized and facilitated is the forging of community within the group, the importance of conscientious independence of each chorister, and a growing awareness and reflective ability with regard to cultural issues.Jubilate tours provincially every spring. Jubilate rehearsals take place on Wednesday from 6:00pm-8:30pm with a Tuesday evening rehearsal every few weeks.
