Covid-19 (Omicron) Update

Hello Families,

Yesterday, Dr. Fitzgerald, Newfoundland and Labrador's Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced the suspension of in-person activities and the temporary return to Alert Level 4. This means that Shallaway will need to delay the start of rehearsals originally planned for January 9th, 2022.

Shallaway will provide an update on resuming in-person on Thursday, January 20 or as soon as we receive new information from the Department of Health and Community Services. During the next two weeks, our faculty will be in touch to offer informal online sessions so that choristers can see their friends, chat and remain connected and engaged.

The delayed start will mean that the scheduled “Spring Break” from March 5- 13 is cancelled and rehearsals will go ahead. In addition, we will extend the season into June to make up any missed time.

Lastly - to each of you - know we are here for you and your families. As always, staff and our entire team stand ready to support and answer your questions. We have once again moved to a virtual office, so please be patient if responses are a little delayed. We will collaborate as we work through this together and move into this phase knowing we have taken the health of our community, staff, artists, support staff and families as our absolute priority.

Thank you,

The Shallaway Team
