This afternoon, Dr. Fitzgerald, Newfoundland and Labrador's Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced the suspension of in-person activities for children and youth because of confirmed community spread in the metro region. This means that we will pivot to online lessons starting on Tuesday, February 9th, 2021 and continuing until the health guidelines change.

Shallaway Youth Choir and Newfoundland and Labrador internationally acclaimed musician, Tim Baker, have collaborated for a very special release of Carry Me Home, issued as a Christmas dedication to the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians everywhere who cannot make it home this holiday season.

In our 28 year history, Shallaway Youth Choir has never fallen silent and we will not now when we know music and joy are so critical to people at home and around the world. The world has changed and we must acknowledge while we have a strong foundation, the post-Covid19 world will be tremendously difficult for charities.

What happens when two of the province’s beloved writers sit down to chat about their latest work?

In partnership with the Bruneau Centre for Excellence in Choral Music, Dr. Brunssen and Dr. Schiller have provided professional learning workshops for music teachers and choral singers from St. John’s, Corner Brook and coastal Labrador.

In May, a 40 member ensemble will travel to New York to work with Francisco J. Núñez and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City as part of their international Vocal Resolutions program.

The Shallaway Youth Choir is no stranger to taking its talent on the road in the 25 years of operation, and has been across the globe including stops in Central and South America, and Europe.

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — Members of Shallaway Youth Choir have travelled far and wide in its first 25 years in an effort to share their musicianship, sing the virtues of Newfoundland and Labrador to the world and inhale and enjoy every ounce of culture and heritage from humankind around the globe.

The University of Pretoria’s (UP) Youth choir will be hosting a concert by young people on Saturday.
